IAF cinematheque to screen globally acclaimed “Parasite”
TEHRAN-The cinematheque of the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran will screen the 2019 South Korean black comedy thriller film “Parasite” directed by Bong Joon-ho on Monday.
After the movie is screened at 5 p.m. at the Nasseri Hall of the IAF, a review session will be held with the presence of the film critic Reza Dorostkar, Honaronline reported.
The film, starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, and Park So-dam follows a poor family who scheme to become employed by a wealthy family, infiltrating their household by posing as unrelated, highly qualified individuals. Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan.
“Parasite” premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival in May 2019, where it became the first Korean film to win its top prize, the Palme d'Or. Among its numerous accolades, Parasite won the leading four Academy Awards at the 92nd Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, becoming the first non-English-language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language.
It will be the 562nd program of the IAF cinematheque, which is dedicated to the screening of the famous films from Iran and the world.
The Iranian Artists Forum is situated at Artists Park on North Mousavi Street, Taleqani Street.
