Winter is Coming Through the “North”
The spokesperson for the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced today that the IOF is preparing for the tough weather of winter in north of the Occupied Palestine, on the border with Lebanon.
According to him, the IOF is preparing, under the shadow of war, for “any storm” on the north! And by using the term “any storm”, he has tried to look tricky. According to him, “the technology and logistics section of the northern command, has accomplished logistic preparations for the winter.
As part of the preparations, during the past three weeks, thousands of personal items and equipment to build residential units on the northern areas, including for ordinary personnel and the reservists, have been transferred and installed.
To preserve the consistency of the functionality of the units stationed in the region for in long-term, intensive work has been done on infrastructural levels like insulated tents, lightings, showers, toilets, rain covers, along with other things. Tens of separate tents have been settled in the north.
All of the units of the northern command are receiving warm meals and drinkable water regularly”. These remarks will find different meaning once we rewind the clock back to early last year, in February, when a short video clip was published by the Lebanese Resistance, Hezbollah, portraying intense practices of its elite combatants in tough winter conditions.
On February 16, 2022, Hezbollah informed foes and friends about its readiness to fight ground battles in any given climate conditions, including winter.
This video was widely neglected by Israeli media and officials, labeled to be just a piece of propaganda. But today, with the “shadow” of a possible “storm” on the border with Lebanon heaving into view, and with absolute absence of a meaningful victory in Gaza Strip to justify an early announcement “achieving the objectives”, it looks like the Israeli military decisionmakers are now in rush to cope with the upcoming new reality on the north.
And this has led to symbolic and decorative behaviors, like “installing toilets” and “placing washing machines” inside the tents on the border with Lebanon, whereas the on other side of the border stands a well trained and highly experienced elite military group which has been practicing for this moment at least since two years ago when the published the video of its trainings, and we know that the preparations go back way further in time.
