‘Crimes in Gaza reveal moral decay of U.S., other Israeli backers’
TEHRAN- Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said that Israel’s “brutal and relentless” crimes in its war on the besieged Gaza Strip have revealed the “moral decay” of the regime’s backers, notably the United States, which has justified the regime’s atrocities as “self-defense.”
In a Saturday post on X, Nasser Kanaani said, “The Zionists’ brutal and relentless crimes committed over the past 22 days in Gaza showed the moral decline of the U.S. regime and other hidden and open supporters of the apartheid Zionist regime to the whole world and exposed their hypocrisy.”
“The heinous and inhumane crimes of the child-killing Zionist regime against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza ... have permanently diminished this regime in the conscience of world people and precipitated its decline,” Kanaani added.
The spokesperson also called the Palestinian blow to the Israeli regime on October 7 an “irreparable defeat”.
Approximately 1,500 Israeli soldiers and settlers perished as a result of the operation codenamed Al-Aqsa Storm. More than 200 Israelis, mostly military personnel, were also taken as prisoners of war.
Israel has retaliated to the attack in a disproportionate way since October 7, killing at least 8000 Palestinians, mostly children and women. The collective punishment of the Palestinians in Gaza has been described as genocidal cleansing.
Kanaani said, “The Zionist regime and its supporters are doomed to failure in this catastrophic genocide in Gaza.”
Kanaani alluded to the Israeli regime enforcing a communication ban on the coastal strip during its unsuccessful ground assault on Friday in a separate X post, asserting the blackout was intended to prevent the world from knowing about the regime’s defeats.
“The murderous leaders of the child-killing Zionist regime are so unsure of the capability of their army that they have shut down Gaza’s internet simultaneously with their purported limited incursion into the region,” he highlighted.
“This is aimed at preventing the world from witnessing their human losses and damage to their military as well as the grounding of the defeated army of the Zionist regime.”
According to the spokesman, Israel’s efforts to conceal its battle losses come at a time when the threadbare myth of the regime army’s invincibility has already been shattered not only in the eyes of the world, but also in the eyes of Israeli settlers, as a result of the irreparable defeat imposed on it by Palestinian fighters.
Additionally, he said that the occupying regime would not dare commit genocide in Gaza if it weren’t for the United States’ support.
Kanaani continued by saying that despite international outcry and a UN General Assembly resolution denouncing the occupying regime’s war crimes in the enclave, the Israeli regime has intensified its strikes in Gaza and is ruthlessly murdering innocent civilians.
He further stated that Israeli strikes are not confined to nonstop bombardments aimed at committing genocide against Palestinians, but also constitute nonstop attacks on human ideals, world peace and security, human rights, and international law.
