Iranian president receives credentials of Saudi ambassador
Israel would not have dared to commit crimes if Muslims had been united, Raisi tells Saudi envoy
TEHRAN- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has noted that the Israeli regime, supported by its Western partners, would have stopped committing enormous crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip if the Muslim world had taken a united stance.
Raisi made the remarks in a meeting with Abdullah bin Saud al-Anazi, Saudi Arabia’s new ambassador to Tehran while receiving his credentials on Tuesday.
The president drew attention to the 75-year history of oppression faced by the defenseless and innocent Palestinian people at the hands of the Israeli regime.
He emphasized that the lack of a cohesive approach among Islamic nations has allowed the illegal entity to carry out massacres and acts of violence against the Palestinian community for many years.
“During the recent unprecedented crimes by the Zionist regime with the complicity of its Western supporters in Gaza, a united stance by the Islamic world could have, in a more effective way, prevented the Zionist regime’s oppression and aggression as well as excessive demands by its Western supporters,” Raisi added.
In other parts of his remarks, Raisi stressed the need for diplomatic apparatuses of Saudi Arabia and Iran to work together to use their respective nations’ capabilities to fortify bilateral ties and safeguard the interests of the Muslim world and other neighboring countries.
The president also criticized the presence of non-regional states in West Asia, noting that their presence not only exacerbates already existing issues but also fails to find solutions for them.
For his part, Saud al-Anazi praised the very strong connections between Saudi Arabia and Iran and advocated for further collaboration and partnership.
“The relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are very strong as the ties and commonalities of the two nations and countries outweigh their differences,” he said.
The Saudi envoy to Tehran emphasized that his country has received support from the Islamic Republic in a variety of areas, and expressed optimism for the two nations’ relationship and collaboration to continue to grow.
After Palestinian resistance group Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm into the occupied territory in response to the Israeli regime’s increased atrocities against the Palestinian people, Israel declared war on Gaza on October 7.
Israel has targeted hospitals, schools, mosques, and churches, among other places of gathering. As a result, over a million Palestinians have been forced to flee the territory, which is home to over 2.3 million people.
Due to Israel’s complete siege, the Gaza Strip—one of the world’s most densely inhabited areas—has been left without food, water, or other necessities.
