Geopolitics of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm
TEHRAN- From now on, what really matters is the “geopolitics of war”. A complex matrix of calculations has been created, the elements of which are tightly intertwined. In a short period of time, the volume of complexity of calculations and geopolitical interactions has far exceeded initial expectations.
The U.S. is concerned about the transformation of the 'Al-Aqsa Storm' into a regional battle and knows that if Israel steps into Gaza, the trigger will be pulled. It looked like Biden visited the occupied territories to offer help to the Israeli regime, but in reality, he was there to warn Tel Aviv about the consequences of a ground offensive into Gaza.
More importantly, since October 7, Washington has been deeply concerned about the Israeli regime's security and political collapse. Americans have seen how weak the Israeli regime's foundations are, how limited its security sources are, how nonexistent its political cohesion is, and how unstable people's attachment to the system is.
Some sources have suggested that the U.S. decided to consolidate its forces in West Asia due to the concern that Tel Aviv could quickly lose control over the occupied territories and also have a big portion of its population killed in a potential multi-front confrontation with the resistance. Israel might collapse in no time in case of a full-waged war with resistance forces. Washington also likes to keep it a secret that if such events unfold, it would have to directly deploy troops and equipment to Israel.
The U.S. is not willing to fight on behalf of Israel, or even alongside the regime. The growing international power of China and Russia, severe concern about American forces becoming a target of resistance forces in West Asia, and booming hatred towards Netanyahu are the main factors that have been shaping Washington’s strategy in recent days.
However, the U.S. is the main force that has turned Israel into a killing machine in Gaza. Through bombardments it is pressuring Palestinians to leave their lands, forcing different governments into silence, and deigning spy operations in a bid to assassinate the prominent figures of the resistance. The U.S. is the main actor when it comes to Israeli crimes and it should not be seen as merely a partner.
Other actors, especially Arab countries, have come to realize that if Israel manages to overcome its latest security and military challenges, it will move towards committing even bigger massacres and get even more hawkish. Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia would much rather have to deal with a weak Israel. But the U.S. would probably try to postpone such weakening by getting rid of Netanyahu’s team and keeping its friends like Ganz in power in the long run.
Europeans are more scared than anyone else. The main question for them is what Russia will do with Ukraine and Europe if Israeli lunatics open up a regional war with America?! From the European perspective, this regional conflict can turn into a global one within a few days.
Contrary to some emotional analyses, the resistance has acted very calculatedly and strongly. Creating a “credible military threat” has always been Netanyahu's slogan, but the resistance has achieved it. Other fronts have practically opened up, but the intensity of the conflict is being controlled. The resistance forces will not allow Israel to determine their future strategies.
The attack on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital on Tuesday night (October 17) marked the end of Netanyahu's political career and the end of Yoav Gallant's military career. The Israeli military has shown that it has reached a deadlock, and everyone has understood this. Israel's goal over the past several days has been to show that there is no safe place in Gaza and Palestinians must leave. But no one has left!
Now Israel has to look for an exit strategy. Resistance forces must try to complete their mission and finish the regime if it carries out a land offensive into the besieged Gaza Strip. For Israel, however, it seems that no good scenario is imaginable.
In such a complex battle, one must be patient. Bloodshed is part of this terrible war, but we must try to keep our hearts at ease by trusting the strategists of the resistance who will determine the end of the war, and who are braver than all of us and more eager for the destruction of Israel.
