“Muslims’ silence will swell Israeli crime”

TEHRAN – Iran’s Vice-President for Legal Affairs on Friday warned Islamic countries against inaction in the face of Israel’s massive attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, saying such attitude would only lead to greater crimes by the regime.

“Israel is testing Islamic countries. The Zionist regime's plan was to enter Gaza and level the entire area, which is why it bombed it to enter Gaza with ground forces. So far the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and resistance forces has prevented the regime from taking such foolish action,” Mohammad Dehghan said an interview with Iranian media.

He pointed out Israel’s Tuesday attack on a hospital in Gaza, saying the regime wanted to test the waters and proceed to commit more crimes in case of a tepid response by Islamic countries.

“The resistance front and Islamic countries must also take practical action. As mentioned, another statement is not enough, the resistance front must take practical action and force Israel to refrain from killing defenseless people, women, and children.

This war has not had any achievements for the Zionist regime, because they have not been able to inflict the blow they intended on Hamas. Hamas fighters are engaged in battle with the enemy and are conducting spectacular military operations, but the Zionist regime has shown no skill other than committing crimes and killing women and children,” the vice president for legal affairs added.

Dehghan also explained that all the killings Israel has been committing in Gaza are considered to be “war crimes” and that the regime must be punished for its massacre of Palestinian people.

After bombing several residential buildings, schools and mosques in recent days, Israel decided to attack the Al-Ahli Arab hospital in southern Gaza, where it has been telling people in northern Gaza to relocate to. The strike killed at least 500 civilians with women and children among the dead. About 1000 people were also injured.

Israeli officials hailed the attack shortly after it happened, but proceeded to blame it on Hamas after pictures of dead civilians began to surface on the internet.

An investigation by Al-Jazeera news network has shown that Israel was in fact responsible for the attack.
