Iran takes part in Lebanon International Book Fair with 1,200 titles
TEHRAN-Iran has participated in the 8th Lebanon International Book Fair, which kicked off in Beirut on Friday.
Iran Book and Literature House represents the country at the event, presenting 1,200 titles on various subjects at a 160-square-meter pavilion, Mehr reported on Saturday.
The books on display at the Iran pavilion have been chosen from 60 publishers. They include different topics such as religion, children and young adult books, classic and modern literature, the Sacred Defense, resistance literature, Palestine, Iran studies, art, tourism and academic books. Over 80 percent of the presented books at Iran pavilion are in Arabic.
A number of workshops and review sessions have also been planned to be held both at the Iran pavilion and elsewhere.
The Fair will run until October 22 at the Beirut Forum, aiming to allow visitors to explore a wide range of publishing offers. Nearly 270 exhibitors from 21 countries will showcase about 100,000 books.
In addition to Iran, the other foreign participants in the event include Qatar, Oman, Palestine, the UAE, Syria and Iraq among others.
For the first time, the Union of Lebanese Book Importers will join the Lebanese Publishers’ Association, presenting a variety of titles in French, Arabic, and English. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in various activities, such as lectures and workshops.
According to the book fair website, the event is all about celebrating the world of books and culture. “In today’s fast-paced world, books remain a powerful source of knowledge, growth and imagination. Despite the challenges our nation faces, we firmly believe in the enduring value of books as a foundation of learning and progress”.
The fair is a testament of unity and commitment to Lebanon’s rich heritage and artistic achievements. Beirut, renowned for its history and cultural significance, provides an ideal setting for this celebration. The Lebanon International Book Fair prepares the ground for exploring a diverse range of books and engaging with Lebanese, Arab and International authors and publishers.
