TEHRAN –The Tabriz International Book Fair is set to make a return this year after a four-year hiatus.

The 18th edition of the book fair, along with the first National Fair on Modesty and Hijab, is scheduled to take place in Tabriz, the capital of East Azarbaijan province in the middle of November, the Director-General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the province has announced.

This edition of Tabriz International Book Fair, as the most prominent and popular cultural event in the northwest of the country, is being organized by the Cultural and Islamic Guidance Office of the province, with support and cooperation from the East Azerbaijan Governor and other local institutions, Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Balaghi said on Saturday.

He emphasized that the Tabriz International Book Fair has been successful in creating a constructive atmosphere in the field of publishing, with equal opportunities for all to access the latest publications. This, he believes, is one of the key strengths of the event.

In addition to the fair itself, the province has taken several steps throughout the year to promote a culture of reading and learning among its inhabitants, he noted.

However, the book fair is seen as a major milestone in these efforts, offering a unique opportunity for people to explore and engage with a diverse range of literary works and related activities, he mentioned.

He also highlighted the public response to previous editions of the Tabriz International Book Fair, demonstrating the event's crucial position and importance among the people.

“The Book Fair is a top priority for intellectuals and various segments of society, and we hope that this year's event will be just as successful.”

Additionally, he praised the launch of the first National Fair on Modesty and Hijab as a valuable opportunity to showcase the province's capacities in this field.

In light of the upcoming events, he extended a warm invitation to local publishers and fashion industry actors, urging them to actively participate in these culturally significant events.
