TEHRAN – Iran’s women’s kabaddi team failed to qualify for the final of the 2022 Asian Games after losing to Chinese Taipei 35-24 in the 2022 Asian Games semifinals on Friday

Team Melli had defeated Nepal and Bangladesh in their previous matches but suffered a shock defeat to Chinese Taipei.

India defeated Nepal 61-17 in another semifinal to meet Chinese Taipei in the final match.

Iran’s women’s team won their first ever gold medal in the previous edition held in Jakarta, Malaysia.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
