TEHRAN – Iranian kurash player Donya Aghaei won a silver medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Sunday.

She lost to her Chinese rival Dan Yu 10-0 in the final of the women’s -70kg.

Aghaei had defeated Chia Wen Tsou of Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan’s Malikakhon Kakhorova before booking her place in the final.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the 2022 Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
