Iran, Tanzania concur on holding joint committee meeting soo

TEHRAN- In an effort to strengthen Tehran’s connections with African nations in numerous areas, Iran and Tanzania have decided to conduct a joint committee session soon.

The decision followed a phone conversation on Friday between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Tanzanian counterpart January Yusuf Makamba.

The top diplomats also discussed ways to strengthen ties, particularly in light of a meeting that took place in August in Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa, between presidents of Tanzania and Iran, Samia Suluhu Hassan and Ebrahim Raisi, respectively.

Amir Abdollahian stated Tehran’s readiness to further collaboration with Dodoma, particularly in economic, scientific, and technical spheres, while highlighting the long-standing relations and the two countries’ vastly different potential.

The senior Iranian diplomat expressed congratulations to the Tanzanian government and Muslims on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Makamba, for his part, stated that his nation is eager to strengthen ties with Iran in several fields.

On behalf of the Tanzanian president, he sent President Raisi an invitation to visit Dodoma.

Back in June, Amir Abdollahian concluded a visit to South Africa where he met with a number of foreign counterparts, whose countries are either member of BRICS or are called Friends of BRICS.

Also on the same date, in a meeting with Issa Boro, the secretary general of Burkina Faso’s foreign ministry, in Tehran, Amir Abdollahian said that fostering relations with African nations holds a significant position in Iran’s foreign policy.

Improvement of ties with African nations is a priority for Iran in terms of foreign policy, according to the foreign minister.

Additionally, Amir Abdollahian applauded the growth of bilateral ties between the two countries.

He continued by saying that the next joint commission meeting between the two nations would be a great chance to develop bilateral ties in the areas of business, science, and education.
