TEHRAN – During the premier screening of a documentary on Iran’s drone industry called "Flagbearer", the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force called Iran a global pioneer in manufacturing drones.

Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said Iran has now turned into a major power in terms of drones and has great capabilities both in the technical and tactical aspects. “Today we serve as a role model for other countries and many wish to reach our level of excellence in the manufacturing of drones,” said the commander. 

“Today, we use drones for reconnaissance, combat, and defense missions. We can also use drones for dozens of other missions. We use this tool in various non-military fields”.
Hajizadeh called the documentary, directed by Mohammad Shaltooki, a testament to the efforts and sacrifices of Iranian individuals in the military, scientific, and technological fields. 

His words come as Iran is commemorating Sacred Defense Week, which remembers 8 years of Iran’s resistance and courage against the invasion of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s army in the 1980s. 

Hajizadeh highlighted that Iran was not only fighting against the forces of Saddam but also an entire army and arsenal belonging to about 30 countries. “About 30 countries stood against us to destroy this system and decimate Iran, but thanks to the perseverance of the nation, we not only defeated their war machine but also managed to not lose a square meter of our land,” the general added.
