TEHRAN PAPERS:

Heavy shadow of “Hajj Qassem missile” over Israel

September 26, 2023 - 9:23

Siasat-e-Rooz dedicated its editorial to Netanyahu's recent nuclear threat against Iran in the United Nations and wrote: Israel enjoys the full support of the United States and Europe, and off the back of their support, it has been able to continue its occupation of Palestine until now.

The Israeli regime's nuclear threats are not only dangerous for Iran but also for the region and the whole world, because even though the Zionist regime has nuclear weapons it has never used, it is still fully capable of wreaking havoc in both the region and across the world. This is while Iran has the capability and capacity to fully defend itself in the face of Israeli threats. Iran can make Israel regret even thinking about a nuclear strike on the country with its long-range and destructive missiles which can hit any target with incredible precision. Iran has a vast range of missiles and drones but its Hajj Qassem ballistic missile can be enough on its own for a potential attack on Israel. The Hajj Qassem missile, with its high precision, high level of destructive power, radar evasion capabilities, and long range can destroy any target imaginable in occupied Palestine. American leaders must try to rein in Netanyahu as any blunder by the regime can end up hurting the United States as well.

Hamshahri: Iran will not negotiate its sovereignty over the trio-islands

Hamshahri analyzed the repeated claims of the representative of the UAE regarding the three islands of the Persian Gulf. It wrote: Iran considers such baseless statements and claims in violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a member of the United Nations as a great violation of international law and the United Nations Charter and considers it a violation of the principle of good neighborliness and the need to respect the territorial integrity of countries. Iran's representation in the United Nations emphasized that the three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb in the Persian Gulf have always been an inseparable part of Iran's territory and under the complete sovereignty of Iran and will always remain so. Any claim contrary to this fact is invalid. The statement of the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly states that Iran always adheres to the policy of friendship and good neighborliness towards all its neighbors and is fully committed to developing relations with all its neighbors, including the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, it emphasizes that Iran's territorial integrity and Iran's sovereignty over these islands will not be subject to any negotiation.

Iran: Everything is based on balance

In a note, the Iran newspaper addressed the relationship between Iran and the Atomic Energy Agency and said: Since November 2022 the Islamic Republic has not been silent regarding the agency's anti-Iran directives and started its retaliatory measures such as 60% enrichment of uranium. Such measures caused the International Atomic Energy Agency to not publish any anti-Iran resolution by the Board of Governors since March of last year despite having held three quarterly meetings. Therefore, it seems that what is going on between Iran and the IAEA means that Iran's approach towards resolving its differences with the IAEA will depend on the political developments regarding the termination of sanctions. If the West decides to turn the screw on Iran and escalate tensions by piling up pressure on Tehran, the country is likely to take advantage of the situation and react in a way that would yield beneficial results for it. Iran has a variety of options and it can retaliate in different ways. In such an atmosphere, it is expected that the other members of the Board of Governors think about the possible and irreparable costs before taking any decision in the process of opposing the Islamic Republic.

Kayhan: Delusional opposition

Kayhan wrote in a commentary: Anti-revolution media networks, while being angry about people's lack of cooperation with opposition groups, admit that illusion has replaced reality in the activities of opposition movements. Analysts of the opposition media admitted that the oppositionists were more interested in the illusion of sabotage than actual acts of sabotage. The performance of the opposition activists did not have a significant proportion to the huge dimensions of the movement last year in Iran. Most of them, after starting the protests, successively promised to overthrow the regime quickly, but in terms of the real impact of the developments, they disappointed their forces. To the extent that the degree of cohesion and synergy of opposition groups has decreased compared to the time before September 2022. In other words, an important part of the opposition engaged in a kind of "safe sabotage" that was not considered a threat to the Iranian government.
