TEHRAN - Thailand kickstarted their quest for a place in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia 2024 with an 6-0 win over Iran on Tuesday.

In the match held at the Buriram City Stadium in Buriram, Rinyaphat Moondong opened the scoring for the hosts from the penalty spot just seven minutes into the match.

Barely a minute had passed when Thailand increased their lead by Phatcharaphorn Khuchuea. She scored once again in the 22nd minute.

More was to come from Thailand in the second half as Pinyaphat Klinklai (64th) nodded in the fourth with Pattharatida Saenglaeb (69th) and Chirarak Khamtan (90th+2) also getting on the scoresheet.

Iran will next face Korea Republic on Thursday in Group A, while India will go up against Thailand.
