TEHRAN – Two basketball stars Behnam Yakhchali and Mohammad Amini will not play for Iran in the 2022 Asian Games.

Yakhchali currently plays for German club Gladiators Treves and Amini is a member of French club AS Monaco Basket.

The European clubs have not allowed their players to join Team Melli for the 2022 Asian Games.

Team Melli are drawn in Group A along with Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Group B consists of China, Mongolia, Lebanon and Chinese Taipei.

Jordan, the Philippines, Bahrain and Thailand are in Group C and Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Qatar are drawn in Group D.

The 19th Asian Games are scheduled to be held from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
