TEHRAN – Iran opposite spiker Amir Ghfour is not going to return to volleyball national team.

Team Melli head coach Behrouz Ataei has recently showed interest in inviting Ghafour to the National Team after the player’s astonishing performance in Iran Volleyball Super League but the 32-year-old player seems to have rejected the offer.

Ghafour helped Shahdab Yazd defend their title at the Iran league in early March.

Shahdab Yazd defeated Haraz Amol in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) in the final in Tehran’s Azadi Hall and Ghafour stole the show and scored 19 points for his team.

Ghfour’s absence could be a big blow to Iran since the team will have to participate in great events in the current years.

Iran national volleyball team will participate at the 2023 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and start the campaign with a match against Japan, slated for June 6 in Week 1.
