China trusted or not?
“Although some experts believe that China’s move to establish close ties with the littoral states on (the southern shores of) the Persian Gulf cannot be a threat to Iran, after the visit of the Chinese president to Saudi Arabia, where two anti-Iran statements were issued, many expressed concerns that China’s coalition with Saudi Arabia can be a threat to Iran’s territorial integrity,” Arman-e Emrooz wrote.
“China’s stance is not new. It has set this procedure on the agenda for years. However, some in Tehran preferred to ignore it. It seems that the procedure is related to the extraordinary amount of corruption that exists in the contracts between China and Iran.
Notice that China has prepared written plans for the development of the ‘Oman Sea- Gwadar Port’ corridor to China. A project worth more than $42 billion. Its road section is available to a large extent and only needs to improve the service level, and its rail section has also been implemented to a large extent. The only thing that can be seen in this project is the complete bypassing of Iran.”
This is while, the Javan publication which reflects conservative front criticized the reform camp in regard to the issue and wrote “on the one hand, they are happy that this interventionist statement can become a pretext for attacking the government and its foreign policy of ‘looking to the East, and on the other hand, they are worried that the unipolar system led by the United States is collapsing, which has even made America’s regional ally, Saudi Arabia, to abandon them and be attracted to China.
The statement of China and Saudi Arabia is considered by the reformists as an invalidation notice on the strategic relations between Tehran and Beijing, but it does not mean a departure from the strategic relations of the two countries, although some of the positions adopted in this statement are faced with the negative diplomatic reaction of the Islamic Republic, and the Chinese authorities must correct the mistake.”
However, Vatan-e Emrooz believes that some analysts are wrong in interpretation of the behavior of diplomats and other countries.
“An issue that has been largely overlooked in the analyses of international experts in the last few days is the analysis of China’s behavior towards Saudi Arabia in the context of confronting the U.S., which is turning into a new trade war between the two countries. If Chinese officials have unveiled their full package of political-economic policies with Saudi Arabia, after long expressions of interest and requests from Saudi leaders for Beijing to invest in this country, it is only due to confrontation with the U.S., not Beijing-Riyadh or Beijing-West Asian relations.”
Kayhan: Street executions in America
The Kayhan newspaper published photos of violence in the United States and slammed the American government for complaining about execution in Iran.
Quoting Jake Sullivan who has said “we hold the Iranian government accountable for the brutal violence it perpetrates against its people,” Kayhan wrote that according to the New York Times police in America have killed hundreds of people over the last 5 years for minor violations, like running a red light, not turning the signal lights or speeding.
The report of the American Crime Research Base shows that more than 700 people were killed by the American police during arrests in the current year.
Americans take a stand against the execution of criminals in Iran, while in their own country, they do not allow court trials, and sometimes the criminals are killed in the street.”
Etemad: Prudent figures expected to do something
The Etemad newspaper, in a note, called on the judicious and wise figures of the society to mediate between the government and protesters to prevent more violence in the country.
“Until now, except for few cases, the response to the protests has been summarized in police and judicial encounters, and no practical plan has been made to recognize and minimally interact with the protesters. It is obvious that foreigners, rivals and even regional and global friends will see these protests as an opportunity to put pressure on Iran and make the most of it and try to gain an advantage from Tehran.
The government could quickly activate all the national, intellectual, cultural, religious and social capacities and prevent the occurrence of these life-threatening damages with constructive and positive interaction, but if for any reason the government did not resolve the crisis convincingly, why other intellectuals, cultural, academic and political authorities take wise initiatives and bring the people’s legal demands closer to reality?” Etemad wrote.
