Iran diplomat meets Turkmenistan FM
TEHRAN - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Reza Najafi has met with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow.
During the meeting, Najafi extended the Iranian foreign minister’s invitation to Meredow to visit Tehran.
The meeting happened on the sidelines of the international conference titled “Dialogue Is a Guarantee for Peace” in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat at the presence of the Iranian ambassador to the country on Sunday.
Najafi underlined the importance of maintaining and expanding relations with neighboring countries as the main priority of foreign policy of the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi. He voiced hope that cooperation between the two friendly and neighboring countries will continue in international and regional organizations, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.
The foreign minister of Turkmenistan also offered his condolences over the death of Iranian transport and urban development minister Rostam Ghasemi and recalled his efforts to expand bilateral cooperation. Meredow then reviewed different issues concerning ties between Tehran and Ashgabat and stressed Turkmenistan's readiness to strengthen the relations.
Najafi had traveled to Ashgabat to participate in the international conference of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, which was formed at Turkmenistan’s initiative.
