TEHRAN - An official at Iran's Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that two-month-long riots had resulted in more than $40 million in damages.

"This includes the damages to administrative buildings and public locations as well as people's personal property," said Majid Mir-Ahmadi, the deputy interior minister for security affairs.

Homes, businesses, and automobiles were among the destroyed personal property, he stated.

The State Security Council run by the Interior Ministry also released a statement on Saturday morning, saying the turmoil that followed the death of young woman Mahsa Amini in mid-September claimed the lives of 200 individuals, including security personnel, ordinary citizens, and rioters.
