Iran increasing gas refining capacity before winter

TEHRAN- After completing the steps of gas extraction from the platforms of phase 14 of developing South Pars gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf, the experts and workers of the oil and gas industry started the transfer of gas to the sixth national line.

The second train of the South Pars phase 14 refinery went operational in mid-November.

Now, 37 platforms of South Pars are producing gas, and the giant gas field development phases and their refineries are completely ready for the steady supply of gas through the cold season.

South Pars gas field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters and the remaining 6,000 square kilometers, called North Dome, are situated in Qatar’s territorial waters.
