TEHRAN – Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has resumed pounding the headquarters of separatist and terrorist groups in northern Iraq with missiles and kamikaze drones.

The attacks targeted the bases of the so-called Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) and the Komala Party.

One attack saw four missiles were fired at a PDKI position in the town of Koy Sanjaq in Erbil Province, Press TV reported.

A separate attack featured kamikaze drones smashing into another site belonging to the group near Baharka village elsewhere in the province.

Simultaneously, kamikaze drones struck positions associated with Komala across two locations near the city of Sulaymaniyah.

Sabereen News, a Telegram news channel run by anti-terror Iraqi forces, said the attacks set off warning sirens at the U.S. consulate in Erbil, capital of the Kurdistan region.

The public relations office of the IRGC Ground Force issued a message saying a new round of attacks has been launched to destroy the “remaining bases” of the militant separatist groups.

“During these raids in regions in depth of the northern Kurdistan region, including Jejnikan and Koy Sanjaq… a heavy blow was inflicted on terrorists,” it said.

Since September 24, the IRGC Ground Force has been periodically striking the positions of the terrorists, who are holed up in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Iran have repeatedly urged the central Iraqi government and the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to disarm and expel these groups.

The Iranian strikes come in the wake of a visit to Baghdad last week by Iran’s Quds Force commander Esmail Ghaani. During the visit, Ghaani threatened Iraq with a ground military operation in the country’s north if the Iraqi army does not fortify the countries’ shared border against militant groups, Iraqi and Kurdish officials said, according to ABC News.
