TEHRAN - The 40th meeting of the Board of Representatives of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) was held on Tuesday in which the attendees addressed various economic issues including the impact of internet limitations on the activities of various businesses.

The meeting was attended by TCCIMA Head Masoud Khansari and members of the chamber’s board, the TCCIMA portal reported.

The attendees of the meeting stressed the negative impacts of the internet limitations and fileting on business activities and the country’s economy and called on the government to take the necessary measures in this regard.

Speaking at the meeting, Khansari said the chamber has written a letter to President Raisi in this regard, which has been referred to the Supreme National Security Council, and TCCIMA is following it up through various channels.

He further mentioned the motto of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), which is knowledge-based production and job creation, saying: “this year has been named the year of knowledge-based production but unfortunately, with the measures taken regarding the internet restriction, not only knowledge-based and digital companies did not experience any growth and improvement, but they faced a very difficult situation.”

“Currently, internet restrictions and filtering have caused severe damage to small and large businesses, and the continuation of this condition can cause the destruction of a large part of such businesses,” he regretted.
