Iran FM holds talks with myriad of foreign officials
TEHRAN- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian held separate meeting on Saturday in Tehran with several foreign dignitaries on the sidelines of the First Meeting of the National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
During a meeting with Omar Awadallah, the deputy foreign minister of Palestine, Amir Abdollahian stressed that the Zionist regime is dealing with complex political and economic issues in the stolen territories.
The Israeli regime's detrimental actions, which the Iranian foreign minister asserted were also represented in the meeting's concluding statement, must be addressed along with the Palestinian issue.
The Palestinian official, for his part, was grateful for Iran's assistance to the Palestinian people.
“Tehran gathering aims to counter unilateralism”
The theme of the Tehran meeting is to reject unilateralism and cruel sanctions, Amir Abdollahian said in meeting with Sergey Vershinin, Russia's deputy foreign minister.
The Iranian foreign minister said that Western countries, led by the United States, want to rule the globe and they are opposed to independent nations.
Amir Abdollahian expressed pleasure over the state of bilateral ties between Moscow and Tehran as well as the effective conduct of a recent joint commission meeting.
For his part, the Russian official stated that many regional and global challenges are shared by Moscow and Tehran.
Vershinin said that the U.S. and NATO's propaganda campaign is aimed to harm the next generation of sovereign nations and that Western sanctions are consistent with their attempts to rule the globe.
“Implementation of long-term strategy with Venezuela is afoot”
The top Iranian diplomat declared that "We are putting into effect with all our might the conditions of a long-term cooperation plan between Iran and Venezuela," Amir Abdollahian said during a meeting with Venezuela's deputy foreign minister Carlos Julio Ron Martinez.
Amir Abdollahian stated that the frequent delegation exchanges between the two nations over the last year send a strong message of unity between Iran and Venezuela.
He asserted that the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's visit to Tehran marked a turning point in Tehran and Caracas' ties.
For his part, the deputy foreign minister of Venezuela emphasized the necessity for a global campaign against unilateralism.
He reaffirmed the dedication of his nation to bilateral accords.
“Tehran meeting intended to censure sanctions on sovereign countries”
In his meeting with Elio Rodrguez Perdomo, the deputy foreign minister of Cuba, Amir Abdollahian underscored the main aim of the summit is to deliver a stern message of criticism of unilateralism and sanctions against sovereign states.
Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian stressed the importance of promoting economic cooperation within the framework of available resources and achieving the level of political links between Iran and Cuba, assessing the degree of relations between the two nations in political domains as favorable.
He emphasized that such a conference has come into existence in a bid to signal a strong message of opposition to sanctions and unilateralism against sovereign states.
The Cuban official, for his part, denounced the terrorist act in Shiraz and mentioned many areas for advancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic spheres.
“It is important to step up Iran-Algeria collaboration”
In a meeting with Ahmed Benyamina, the Algerian special representative for international security affairs, Amir Abdollahian emphasized the importance of expanding Iran-Algeria cooperation in all areas.
The chief diplomat stressed the interest of the Islamic Republic in promoting relations with Algeria while referencing the two countries' vast potential.
It is important to advance ties between Iran and Algeria at scientific, touristic, and legislative levels on par with their political ties, Amir Abdollahian suggested.
The political leaders of the two nations have similar, if not identical, viewpoints on a number of subjects, he added.
For his part, Benyamina expressed optimism for the continued growth of their mutual connections with the Islamic Republic.
“Iran, Nicaragua call for stronger economic relations”
In a meeting with Farrara Lashtar, the Nicaraguan ambassador to Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, Amir Abdollahian emphasized the need to strengthen ties in economic spheres.
Amir Abdollahian emphasized the need to develop relationship between the two nations in economic sectors while referring to the close political ties between the two counties.
The Iranian foreign minister praised the president and vice president of Nicaragua for expressing sympathy to Iran after the terrorist assault at the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz on October 26.
For his part, Lashtar highlighted readiness of his country to establish comprehensive ties with Iran, particularly in business and economic spheres.
“Iran, Zimbabwe mull strengthening ties”
David Musabayana, the visiting deputy foreign minister of Zimbabwe, and Amir Abdollahian also discussed steps to improve bilateral ties.
The two parties emphasized the necessity to hold joint economic commission meetings more quickly to further collaboration.
The foreign minister of Iran urged utilizing resources in both countries to strengthen relations.
19 nations established the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter to safeguard, improve, and defend the UN Charter's legitimacy.
Algeria, Angola, Belarus, Bolivia, Cambodia, China, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Laos, Nicaragua, Palestine, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Syria, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe are the group's member states.
Participants in the forum discuss significant world issues and denounce unilateralism.
In order to improve respect for the goals and tenets of the UN Charter, as well as for values like dialogue, tolerance, solidarity, and peaceful cohabitation among states, the group seeks to promote international law, the UN Charter, and cooperation regarding joint efforts.
