Shooter Rostamian happy to win Olympics’ quota
TEHRAN - Hanieh Rostamian, Iranian sports shooter, is delighted to obtain Iran's first berth for the 2024 Parsi Olympics.
The Iranian woman, taking part in the World Shooting Championships in Egypt, managed to win the country's first quota for the 2024 Olympics.
“I'm so happy for being able to represent my country once again in a prestigious tournament like the Olympics,” Rostamian said in her exclusive interview with Tehran Times.
“The ISSF World Shooting Championships is one of the best shooting competitions after the Olympic Games, and the shooters take part in this tournament with complete preparation,” she added.
“Both the number and the quality of the participants were high, and it was tough to win.
Rostamian won the Olympics quota in women's 25-meter air pistol. She was also a member of the Iranian women in the 10-meter rifle match alongside Golnoosh Sebghatollahi and Mina Ghorbani. They beat Mongolia 14-16 to win the world championship's bronze medal.
“Fortunately, I could break my record and the national record in the 25-meter air pistol. I also managed to win a bronze medal in mixed 10-meter air pistol with Javad Foroughi,” added the 24-year-old shooter.
Speaking about her Olympics berth, Rostamian said: “Actually, getting the Olympics quota was not among the plans of the federation and the national team's head coach before this tournament. However, I did my best, and fortunately, I could get the quota for my country very soon.
“It's a great honor for me to represent Iran in another Olympics, and I will try to take advantage of my experiences and get the best results in Paris,” Rostamian concluded.
The Cairo competitions began on Oct. 12 and ended on Oct. 25. The tournament also served as a qualification event for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
