‘Generating 88,000MW electricity is Iran’s privilege in SCO’
TEHRAN - The Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity and Energy Affairs said generating 88,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity by the Islamic Republic of Iran is an advantage that the country brings for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The existence of more than 88,000-MW electricity capacity in the country is an asset for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Homayoon Haeri stated on Tuesday, Mehr News Agency reported.
He said that the high potential of Iran’s electricity grid both in terms of production and internal electricity networks is a sufficient condition for the presence of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Turning to the construction of power plants, Haeri pointed out that Iran enjoys high potential and capabilities in the construction of power plants which can be very effective in exchanging energy with the SCO’s member states.
Earlier, Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian had said that exchanging electricity with the SCO member states will be put atop the agenda, adding that Iran has presently established electricity exchange with some of the SCO member states.
