TEHRAN - Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, chief commander of the Iranian Army, has vowed to prevent any aggression and foreign meddling in Iran’s internal affairs.

General Mousavi made the remarks while addressing a military ceremony on Sunday.

All branches of Iran’s Armed Forces support one another and form the nation’s front line for protecting the country’s security and heading off threats, he said, Press TV reported.

“Our enemies cannot tolerate the progress of this nation and the solidarity between the nation and the Armed Forces,” he said, adding, “One of their main goals is to undermine security ... and finally weaken the defensive power of the country.”

Mousavi added that the enemies of Iran are using hybrid warfare and modern methods to weaken the country’s defenses and shatter the Iranian people’s resistance to achieve their ominous goals.

“Their most important strategy is to spread despair, shatter the steadfastness of the great Iranian nation, and undermine security of Iran in order to disrupt its independence and progress. They seek to deprive this nation of security and hope, and destroy its resistance,” he noted.

Addressing the Iranian youths, the chief commander of the Army said all the mischievous acts committed by the “the criminal U.S.” and the “infanticide Zionist regime” will be taken into consideration “and the day will come when these scores are settled all at once, and you dear youths will see that day with your own eyes.”

His remarks came a day after Iran’s highest ranking military commander warned that enemies are posing "hybrid threats" to the country, stressing the importance of boosting preparedness to combat such a menace.

"In fact, we are currently facing hybrid threats. Military, security and cultural threats as well as emerging and sometimes unknown threats… and we have to get prepared for such a ... confrontation," Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said on Saturday.

He warned that the enemies have carefully devised a combination of military, security and cultural threats against Iran, saying some of those threats are emerging.

“We have to get prepared for such a stage and confrontation,” the general added, referring to the emphasis that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has placed on readiness to counter hybrid warfare.

In comments earlier in July, Major General Baqeri stressed the need for the constant enhancement of the country’s deterrent power to deal with a tough and complicated hybrid warfare that the enemies have waged against the Islamic Republic.

He also noted that the Iranian military units are among the few military forces in the world that simultaneously face hard military and security threats.
