Iranian pilgrim held in Saudi Arabia is released

TEHRAN – Iranian Hajj pilgrim Khalil Dardmand who had been detained by Saudi Arabia has been released, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a report on its website on Sunday.
The announcement of his release was announced by Iraqi Foreign Minister Faud Hussein and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi in their separate telephone calls with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
According to a photo published on the ISNA news agency website, Dardman was detained for showing the photo of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani on his cellphone.
Gen. Soleimani, anti-terror legendary commander who headed the Iranian Quds Force, was assassinated in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad’s international airport in January 2020.
