Khatami's Special Envoy in Lebanon

DAMASCUS Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African affairs, Mohammad Sadr, wound up his visit to Syria and left here on Wednesday for the Lebanese capital city of Beirut.
Sadr, a special envoy of President Mohammad Khatami, arrived in Syria on Tuesday on the third leg of his five-nation regional tour which will also take him to Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. He visited Jordan and Tunisia before coming to Damascus.
While in Syria, the Iranian envoy submitted a message from President Khatami to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on issues affecting Bait-ul-Moqaddas and the holy Qods.
He also held talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara on subjects of bilateral interest and latest regional developments.
Sadr's regional tour is aimed at submitting separate messages from President Khatami, as the chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), to the leaders of Jordan, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
