TEHRAN – The University of Tehran hosted a conference on Saturday to commemorate the senior Iraqi Shia cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim, the leader of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq who was assassinated in a bomb attack in Najaf in 2003.

Speaking at the conference, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said, “Martyr Hakim was a prominent example of Islamic ethics and a Mujahid whose morality was both good and fatherly.”

Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, also spoke at the event, saying Baqir al-Hakim is deeply missed in Iraq and the Muslim world, Fars reported.
