TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that Iran attaches great importance to its relations with neighboring Turkmenistan, Mehr reported.

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with a visiting Turkmen deputy foreign minister in Tehran.

Iran has always sought to expand ties with Turkmenistan in different areas, Zarif said.

“We hope to be able to benefit from all available potentials to expand friendship and brotherhood,” he added. 

He also pointed to the agreements on the Caspian Sea legal regime and voiced Iran’s readiness to implement joint projects with Turkmenistan in the sea.
