TEHRAN – 15 homegrown Kowsar fighter jets will be delivered to the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) within three years, the force’s commander Aziz Nasirzadeh announced on Saturday.
Brigadier General Nasirzadeh said the IRIAF has already received one Kowsar fighter jet, Mehr reported.
Kowsar is an advanced fighter jet with a close air support (CAS) role that has made Iran one of the few countries with the know-how of designing and manufacturing such jets equipped with 4th generation avionic and fire-control systems.
It was successfully test-flown on August 21 at the presence of President Hassan Rouhani.
