Iranian-Azerbaijani production “Castle of Love” entry in Fajr festival

TEHRAN – “Castle of Love”, a co-production between Iran and Azerbaijan, has been submitted to the 37th edition of the Fajr Film Festival, Iranian producer of the film Amir-Shahab Razavian told the Persian service of MNA on Tuesday.

The film, which was named “High Voltage” earlier, is written and directed by Ilham Qasimov from Azerbaijan.

Based on an Azerbaijani mythical romance, the film tells the story of Princess Aytakin who is in love with an ordinary boy from Tabriz, while she has lots of noble suitors.  

Scenes of the movie have been filmed on locations in Baku in Azerbaijan as well in the Iranian town of Meshkinshahr in Ardebil Province.

Iranian actor Reza Naji, who won the Berlinale Silver Bear for Best Actor for his role in Majid Majidi’s “The Song of Sparrows”, and Ziya Agha, Chinara Malikzada and Kamala Piriyeva from Azerbaijan are the main members of the cast.

The 37th Fajr Film Festival will take place in Tehran and several other Iranian cities from February 1 to 11.
