TEHRAN – Ex-Iran national football team striker Reza Ghoochannejhad is reportedly negotiating with Persepolis club.

Ghoochannejhad, also known as "Gucci", joined APOEL from SC Heerenveen in July but he is growing frustrated by his lack of playing time since moving to the Cypriot football team.

Another Iranian football team Tractor Sazi, headed by Mohammad Taghavi, are also interested in signing the 31-year-old forward. Gucci can join his former teammates Ashkan Dejagah, Masoud Shojaei and Ehsan Haji Safi in the Tabriz based football team.

Ghoochannejhad announced his retirement soon after the 2018 World Cup after he remained an unused substitute in three matches against Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

Ghoochannejad scored Iran’s only goal at the 2014 World Cup against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He is a physical striker who knows how to win an aerial battle.

Persepolis Nigerian striker Godwin Mensha will likely leave the team in the January transfer window after he failed to meet the expectations.

The Reds have reportedly negotiated with Belgian KV Kortrijk defender Mohammad Naderi.

Persepolis shared the top place of the Iran Professional League (IPL) in the first half of the season.
