Monday declared as national day of mourning for Ahvaz terror victims
TEHRAN – The cabinet of ministers issued a statement on Sunday declaring Monday as the national day of mourning in the memory of 25 people who were killed in a Saturday morning terrorist attack in Ahvaz, capital of the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
“The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran offers condolences to the brave people of Khuzestan and the resilient and resistant families of the martyrs and the injured, and declares the day of the funeral of the dears of the nation (Monday, September 24) as the day of mourning,” the statement said.
It also said the terrorist attack showed that the enemies have no plot other than the “destruction of Iran and Iranian” and show no mercy for women, children, the youth, old, and the ethnic Lors and Arabs.
