TEHRAN – Yousef Yousefi Pashaki claimed a silver medal at the Asia-Oceania Open Powerlifting Championships on Sunday.

The Iranian powerlifter clinched a silver at the under-59kg division, in the competitions underway in Kitakyushu, Japan.

Yousefi lifted 182kg and finished in second place.

Gold medal went to Chinese powerlifter Qi Yongkai. He lifted 192.5kg and broke the world junior record.

Chile's Juan Carlos Garrido won the bronze medal with 176kg.

Competition will continue on Monday (10 September) with the women´s up to 61kg and 67kg, and the men´s up to 72kg and 80kg.
