Tanker trucks carrying loads of water deliver water to Khanabad and Ebrahimabad villages in the western province of Kordestan.

Drought spells caused by low precipitation and temperature rise, coupled with climate change, are the reasons behind water scarcity in Iran.

In some areas, especially in southeast and southern Iran, people have to walk long distances on a daily basis to obtain drinking water for everyday use.
