TEHRAN - Zlatko Dalic has refused Iran’s offer to take charge of Team Melli, sport.novi.ba reported.

The 51-year-old Croatian coach had been recently linked with a move to Iran as a replacement for Carlos Queiroz.

The Portuguese coach has yet to contract with Iran football federation with five months to go until the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Dalic will be staying with the Croatia national team after leading the team to the World Cup final.

The Croatian soccer federation president Davor Suker met with the coach to discuss his future.

There have been reports that Dalic could leave because of problems with the federation but Dalic says he and Suker "resolved all the issues" during their meeting.

Croatia lost to France 4-2 in the World Cup final in Russia.
