Iran win Sitting Volleyball World Championships

TEHRAN - Paralympic gold medalists Iran defeated their arch rivals Bosnia and Herzegovina in straight sets in the 2018 men’s Sitting Volleyball World Champions at The Hague on Sunday.

Team Melli defeated the Bosnian team 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 at the Luxor Theater and won the gold medal.

The match was a repeat of the Paralympic Games final in Rio de Janeiro two years ago, where the Iranian team beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1.

Both finalists secured qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Iran leads the way with 10 medals in total – all won in the men’s competition – with seven gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Ukraine claimed the bronze after defeating Brazil in straight sets 28-26, 25-23, 27-25.
