British actress Joanna Lumley visits Iran for Silk Road project
TEHRAN – Joanna Lumley, the 72-year-old English actress and activist who is famous for her role as Patsy Stone in the BBC sitcom “Absolutely Fabulous”, is currently in Iran to make an episode of a series on the Silk Road for ITV, a British commercial TV network.
She is making the series in collaboration with Farzad Pak, an Iranian producer who has been involved with the production of more than 150 documentaries, large budget feature films and a variety of co-productions with international filmmakers in Iran and abroad, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Saturday.
Lumley, who won two BAFTA TV Awards for her role “Absolutely Fabulous” (1992–2012), is scheduled to visit the Iranian cities of Kashan, Isfahan, Yazd and Shiraz to complete the series.
Lumley's visit to Iran is part of her travel along the Silk Road from China to Venice. She will also pay a visit to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia and Turkey to film the series.
