Greek BigBang festival selects top Iranian shorts
TEHRAN – The BigBang International Short Film Festival, which was organized with short films by Iranian creators in the Greek capital of Athens from June 1 to 3, announced winners of its second edition.
“Manicure” by Arman Fayyaz was named best film, while Parviz Rostami was crowned best director for “The Scarecrows Also Die”, the organizers announced.
The award for best screenwriter went to writer/director Kaveh Mazaheri for “Retouch”.
Nasim Kiani was picked as best actress for her role in “Temporary” and Farzad Baqeri was named best actor for his role in “Ayyub”.
“The Little Boy” by Mona Shahi was selected as best animated film, while Ashkan Ashkani won the award for best cinematographer for his collaboration on “Zona”.
Saeid Nejati and Emad Khodabakhsh received the award for best editor for their collaboration on “It Rains Slowly” and the best sound engineer award was presented to Ramin Abolsedq for “Alternation”.
Salah Saednia was selected as best set designer for “Cold Water” and Ali Mardomi won the award for best costume designer for “The Cemetery Men”.
All the winning films are scheduled to screen in 70 movie theaters across Greece.
The festival was organized by the Greek short film company T-shOrt in collaboration with the Iranian Youth Cinema Society.
