Sri Lankan president set to arrive in Tehran

TEHRAN – Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena was scheduled to arrive in Tehran on Sunday for a two-day state visit, Mehr reported.

Sirisena’s visit is taking place at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

Sirisena is expected to hold meetings with Rouhani as well as other Iranian officials including Foreign Minister Zarif.

According to Sri Lankan media, the Sri Lankan president’s mission is to improve economic and trade ties as well as encouraging Iranian investments in his country.
