NITC ready to operate under any condition: managing director
TEHRAN- Referring to U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the multilateral nuclear agreement with Iran, National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Managing Director Nasrollah Sardashti said his company has made the necessary planning and NITC fleet is ready to operate under any condition.
The official made the remarks in an interview with the news service of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) when visiting the 23rd International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition of Iran (Iran Oil Show 2018), which was held at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds from May 6 to 9, NIOC website reported.
“We have an experience of five-year activity under the sanctions and now relying on our fruitful experiences of those years we have made necessary planning for the possible re-imposition of the sanctions”, the managing director asserted.
Sardashti also announced that NITC has prepared a plan for the renovation of its fleet, adding “We have already demolished four tankers and two other tankers will be demolished soon based on the planning.”
NITC, which operates the largest tanker fleet in the Middle East and has the world’s largest fleet of super tankers, transports Iranian crude and also acts as an independent entity in contracts with foreign concerns for crude oil transportation based on prevailing international freight rates.
