Assailant on Iran’s interests section in Washington detained

TEHRAN – An assailant who attacked Iran’s interests section in Washington on Wednesday was arrested by the U.S. police after injuring a staffer.

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that the assailant was arrested.

Reportedly, the assailant was chanting slogans against the Islamic Republic of Iran and was in possession of cold and warm weapons.

No details about the motives behind the attack has been released.

Iran’s interests section in Washington only provides consular services for the Iranian nationals residing in the U.S. and Canada and is not engaged in any political or diplomatic activities.
