TEHRAN – The rotating presidency of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was handed to the Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday for a three-year term.

The decision was made during the 23rd meeting of ECO foreign ministers in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, IRIB reported.

During the meeting, ECO states in a joint statement supported Iran’s bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The participants also condemned the unilateral economic sanctions on some countries, which hinder economic development and free trade among nations.
