Iran's former presidential aide Hamid Baghaei is sent to prison

TEHRAN – A senior judicial official announced on Tuesday that the court ruling against Hamid Baghaei, a close confidant of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has been announced and that the ruling is “final”.

It was announced that Baghaei had been detained and sent to prison on Tueseday.

Baghaei, who was vice president for executive affairs, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. He also must pay huge fines.

Tehran Justice Department chief Gholam-Hossein Esmaili said on Tuesday the ruling had been announced to Baghaei on Monday.
