Iranian, Iraqi private sectors fortifying economic ties

TEHRAN- In a Thursday meeting at Karbala Chamber of Commerce, an Iranian trade delegation from Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) discussed increasing mutual ties with their Iraqi counterparts, the portal of ICCIMA reported.

Led by ICCIMA Head Gholam-Hossein Shafeie, the Iranian entrepreneurs discussed signing a free trade agreement, creation of banking relations, and establishment of a joint customs gateway with the Iraqi traders and businessmen, the report said, and as planned a joint committee will be formed between Karbala Chamber of Commerce and Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce.

During this meeting, Chairman of Karbala Camber Nabil Al-Anbari announced Iraqi’s tendency for more imports of Iranian quality goods and called on Iranian investors and companies to be more active in Iraq.

Shafeie, for his part, said that the relation between ICCMA and Karbala Chamber of Commerce can be a long-term one.
