Committee set up to pursue case of arrested students

TEHRAN – Parliamentarian Fatemeh Saeidi says a committee has been established with the aim of pursing the cases of the students who were arrested during recent protests across the country.

Saeidi told ILNA on Saturday that some members of the three major factions of the parliament joined the committee to pave the way for the immediate release of the arrested students.

She added that the committee plans to hold meetings with security and judicial officials as well as authorities with the interior and intelligence ministries in order to resolve their issue.

In the meantime, Majid Sarsangi, University of Tehran’s deputy dean for cultural and social affairs, said according to agreements reached with related bodies, the majority of the students will be freed in the coming week.
