Iran picked as deputy chair of OPCW conference

TEHRAN – Iran was picked as the deputy chair of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons conference during the 22nd session of the OPCW forum.
Ali-Reza Jahangiri, Iran’s permanent ambassador and permanent representative in the OPCW, was elected as the deputy chairperson of the body, Mehr news agency reported.
The OPCW conference convenes once a year to investigate the recent developments in curbing the chemical weapons and the process of annihilation of such weapons.
As an active member of the OPCW, Iran has already been the chairman of the Asian group and secret committee.
