“Birds of Iran” unveiled in Tehran

TEHRAN – “Birds of Iran”, an annotated checklist of the species and subspecies of birds in Iran, was unveiled Saturday during a ceremony at the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation (PWHF) in Tehran.

The book has been co-authored by the international experts Derek A. Scott, Kees Roselaar, Jiri Mlikovsky, Michael Blair and Pavel Valeriyevich Kvartalnov, as well as Iranian writers Abolqasem Khaleqizadeh and Mohammad Tohidifar.

Published by Iranshenasi Publishing, this book updates all bird species recorded in Iran up to the beginning of 2017.

It also comprises the first ornithological document to cover all the species and subspecies of birds occurring in Iran in over a century.
