Exports from South Pars oil layer exceed 4.2m barrels
TEHRAN- Exports of crude oil from the oil layer of Iran’s South Pars field (in the Persian Gulf) has hit 4.26 million barrels during the eight stages since start of export from the layer in the beginning of current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2017), according to the director of project for developing the layer.
As Fardin As’adi told ISNA, oil production from the layer currently stands at 25,000 barrels per day (bpd) on average, which will be maintained by the end of the tenth Iranian month of Dey (January 20, 2018), and some 550,000 barrels are exported in each 25 days.
He put the amount of oil production from the layer at 4.5 million barrels so far.
Iran started pumping oil from South Pars oil layer on March 19, according to Gholam-Reza Manouchehri, the deputy managing director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for engineering and development affairs.
South Pars, a supergiant gas field Iran shares with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters, is estimated to contain over 14 billion barrels of oil in its oil layer. The field is also estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
